Lokta paper
Lokta paper is made from the bark the Daphne shrub (Nepalese name: Lokta) that grows in the Himalayas. The bark grows back naturally and can be harvested again over time, without damaging the bush. A sustainable way of harvesting.
The production of Lokta paper is an old Nepalese craftsmanship. Nowadays the production is mainly done by illiterate Nepalese women, who can therefore provide for themselves.
