Manjushri is the Bodhisattva of Wisdom. Manjushri’s Wisdom energy helps to overcome ignorance, the main obstacle on the way to Enlightment. Enlightenment, liberation from the cycle of unfortunate rebirths (Samsara), is the highest goal in Buddhism. Manjushri is often depicted holding a book in one hand, symbolising the teachings of Buddha (dharma) and in the other a wisdom sword, to cut through the roots of ignorance.
